Our Intent
Geography at Cumberland Infant School
Geography at Cumberland enables our children to develop a sense of awe and wonder about the world around them (WOW). Through our engaging project led integrated curriculum, we enable our children to become geographers by developing their knowledge about places, environments, people and their culture, teaching them to understand and appreciate the world around them. The children become geographers through the use of fieldwork and map skills, which they build upon each year.

Becoming expert tourist guides of our Great Waterfront City.
Boarding a Cumberland Airways plane to see the amazing sights that New Zealand has to offer.
As Geographers, the children use a variety of geographical sources and apply their thinking skills to enquire and investigate both the local, national and wider world. We celebrate cultural diversity and by looking at different places near and far, they learn to appreciate the wonders of the world. The children also learn about the impact humans have on the planet and their important role to care for it, to sustain it for the future.
